Special Council Meeting

October 5, 2005

Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Emerson 

The pledge of Allegiance was spoken. 

Present: Hagemann, Astleford, Emerson, Timmerman, Pederson

Absent: None 

Project # 263 – Police Union 

The council received a list of items the Police Officers wanted changed on their union contract which will be in effect January 1, 2006. 

#1        Holiday – The officers requested ½ day Christmas Eve, and exchange Columbus Day to Veterans Day.  If they worked the holiday they would get 4 ½ hours at 1 1/2 times, plus regularly hourly rate. 

#2        Union was asking for 4% increase in salary for both 2006 and 2007.

            Council and Union agreed on a 3% increase each year. 

#3        Union requested insurance $500.00 for 2006 and $625.00 for 2007and after working for city for 25 years city pays 100% health insurance for employees until they reach Medicare age. 

Council and Union agreed on $500.00 for 2006 and $525.00 for 2007 and see if there is a different plan for family so it will be cheaper.  Omit the 25 year plan and set up a plan that if the employee puts in $10.00 the city will match up to $10.00 per check and have it put into a plan so the employees can use this money for medical reasons. 

#4        Union requested to add $50.00 a year for uniform allowance (will be $650.00) council had no objections. 

Joe Ketelboeter requested to carry over his 128 hours of vacation.   

Motion by Emerson seconded by Hagemann to approve Joe to carry over 80 hours and pay him remaining hours, all ayes 

Reggie has 160 hours vacation and was unable to use.  Reggie is requesting to roll over all his vacation.  Motion by Timmerman seconded by Pederson to pay Reggie 80 hours of his vacation and roll over 80 hours into next year, all ayes. 

The Clerk gave each council person a copy of a school on annexation.  No one stated they could go. 

The clerk asked the council to pay off the new Information Center with the money we received from the sale of the old Information Center and also repay West Central the balance up to $15,000.00 for April 1, 2005 payment. 

Motion by Timmerman seconded by Hagemann to pay off the new Information Center and also the West Central Initiative loan, all ayes. 

Motion by Emerson seconded by Hagemann to adjourn the meeting, meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm, all ayes.
