Present: John Peterka, Bonnie Schultz, Gary Astleford, Jan Flolid, Dave Zerr, Rod Femrite

President John Peterka called the meeting to order at 4:00pm

Motion by Flolid seconded by Zerr to approve the agenda with the addition of the Industrial Park, All Ayes.

Motion by Flolid seconded by Schultz to approve the General Consent Items, All Ayes.

Osakis Properties – We received a TIF application and Grant application from Cari Smith for a lot in Osakis Properties.

Jacob’s Lefse – Angela gave Jack the business subsidy agreement to fill out they will let me know if they have questions while filling it out.

Blue Ox Timber – Jason Murray introduced Ben Miller the owner of Blue Ox Timber. He would like to build a 6,000 square foot building with a 2 story 600 sq. ft. per story for office with an exterior wood burner. Ben is looking at purchasing Lot 6 with a first right of refusal on lot 5.

Blue Ox Timber designs and engineers wood structures with timbers they currently employ 8 people and will add additional help in the next 1 to 2 years.

Traci stated the TIF process would take about 45 days. She would suggest having the EDA include all open land in the Industrial Park be included in the TIF. Cost will be about $5,500 to make up the TIF district. The fee is reflected in the payment schedule for the nine year TIF amounts.

Motion by Astleford seconded by Femrite to approve the TIF for all open lots in the Industrial Park for the period of nine years, all ayes.

Motion by Zerr seconded by Flolid to approve Lot 5 for the first right of refusal, all ayes.

Council will need to pass a resolution to authorize TIF at the June 2 meeting.

Angela will have the city attorney start paperwork for the sale of lot 6.

OEDC – $2,000 received. They would like to see the $2,000 go towards the fireworks.

Motion by Flolid seconded by Astleford to approve the $2,000 for the fireworks.

VFW – No money received in May

 

Industrial Park Sign – The sign posts on 1st Ave East and Rush Street need to be painted.

Motion by Flolid seconded by Astleford to approve to paint the Industrial Park sign posts black, all ayes.

Mayor Astleford introduced the concept of putting in a fishing dock at the beach. The beach is not used like it used to be. The DNR can build the dock that would be handicap assessable for the city.

Motion by Astleford seconded by Flolid to adjourn the meeting at 5:00pm, All Ayes.
